What is ITS? n What are the merits of ITS?
An Internet Transaction Server (ITS) installation consists of one or more ITS instances, each running one or more ITS services.
An ITS instance contains one or more AGate processes and one or more WGate instances.
When you have run the ITS setup program once to create the physical installation, you can create any number of additional ITS instances on the same hardware by running it repeatedly.
Running multiple ITS instances as part of the same physical installation allows you to minimize hardware requirements.
Features
The figure below shows three ITS instance types:
● ADM – used to run the ITS Administration tool
● CON – used for testing
● DEV – used for development
To install these three instances, you must run the ITS setup program three times.
In production systems, security is critical, so you need to be more careful:
· Always run your production instance(s) apart from your development and test instances on a separate machine, together with an ADM instance that runs the ITS Administration tool.
· Always run WGate and AGate on separate machines in a dual host installation.
In most cases, especially in production systems, one WGate and one AGate are not sufficient. Additionally, the installation of different instances on the same server must only be done after it has been assured that the tuning allows this (or for test scenarios).
- ITS is a Internet Transaction Server. ITS forms an interface between HTTP server and R/3 system, which converts screen provided data by the R/3 system into HTML documents and vice-versa. Merits of ITS: A complete web transaction can be developed and tested in R/3 system. All transaction components, including those used by the ITS outside the R/3 system at runtime, can be stored in the R/3 system. The advantage of automatic language processing in the R/3 system can be utilized to languagedependent HTML documents at runtime.
